Honoring Kona's Legacy
In 2015, our founder, David, rescued Kona (RIP) from Piece County Humane. Trained as his service dog, she was much more than a companion, guiding him through the daily challenges of PTSD.
Tragically, Kona passed away in November 2023 after a battle with bone-deteriorating cancer. Her unwavering strength, loyalty, and commitment to David's life inspired the creation of Forgotten Dogs 4 Forgotten Vets, paving the way for many other veterans in need to get the same life-changing support that she provided David.
Our Mission
We provide disabled honorably discharged veterans of the United States Armed Forces with a professionally trained service dog from local shelters and rescues to assist with their disabilities.
Every service dog costs between $12,000 and $15,000 to select, train and pair with a Veteran in need. Our goal is to train 40 dogs a year with the support of our partners and sponsors. The average waiting to receive a service dog is 1-5 years and we want to bridge that gap and train the veteran along with their service dog.
This will expedite the process to a few months instead of years before our veterans are taken care of while giving those beautiful dogs forgotten in the shelters a new loving home and a meaningful purpose in life.
